The Sui blockchain ecosystem has witnessed remarkable expansion in recent months, with its native SUI token enjoying a notable and sustained rally. Ramani Ramachandran, co-founder and CEO of Router Protocol, attributed this growth to an exceptional developer experience and a vibrant community within the Sui ecosystem.
Ramachandran emphasized that Sui stands out by blending the accessible Move programming language with a user-friendly interface, making the platform particularly appealing to developers. He remarked:
“The fascinating thing about Sui is that, even though the founders aren’t in the spotlight, they’re doing something right. Developers are constantly praising Sui and speaking highly of its features and usability.”
He further highlighted the positive environment surrounding the ecosystem, stating, “The community and overall energy have been fantastic.” He credited the strong developer base for creating a sustainable ecosystem, positioning Sui as a resilient alternative to other layer-1 blockchains that often lose momentum after initial token launches.
Sui’s Rise Among Monolithic Blockchains
A report published by VanEck in October revealed that monolithic blockchains like Sui and Solana outperformed other blockchain ecosystems during September.
Sui achieved an impressive 140% increase in daily active addresses throughout September, boosting demand for the SUI token and pushing its market capitalization to $9.9 billion.
Earlier in 2024, K33 Research identified Sui as a strong contender against Solana in the blockchain space. The report highlighted Sui’s streamlined architecture, contrasting it with other layer-1 blockchains that rely on more intricate programming languages and tools.
On Nov. 22, asset manager Franklin Templeton announced a partnership with Sui to explore new applications within its Move-based blockchain framework.
With its ability to handle high transaction volumes and maintain low latency, Sui is particularly attractive for projects requiring frequent updates, such as video games. Mysten Labs, the team behind the Sui network, is furthering this vision with plans to launch a blockchain-optimized handheld gaming PC in 2025, bridging the gap between traditional and blockchain gaming.
