A Rapid Ascent in Bitcoin Rankings

Just two weeks prior, Metaplanet had entered the list of top corporate Bitcoin holders at the number eight spot. Now, it has leapfrogged Coinbase to claim seventh place.

In a bold parallel move, Metaplanet’s board also authorized the issuance of zero-interest bonds worth $210 million, with all proceeds earmarked for expanding its Bitcoin portfolio. The company’s long-term vision? Accumulate a staggering 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. Having already secured 10,000 BTC, it now faces the ambitious challenge of acquiring another 200,000 within 18 months.

Stock Soars Following Bitcoin Push

Investor excitement was reflected on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, where Metaplanet shares (3350T) surged by more than 22%, closing at 1,860 yen. Year-to-date, the stock has climbed an impressive 417%, driven largely by its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

Institutional Appetite Remains Resilient

The firm’s announcement comes amid continued demand from institutions, even as Bitcoin’s price briefly slid from $110,000 to $103,000 in recent days due to geopolitical instability.

Despite the dip, interest hasn’t waned. According to reports, Bitcoin ETFs saw over $1.3 billion in net inflows last week. Meanwhile, Michael Saylor—co-founder of MicroStrategy—confirmed plans to continue buying Bitcoin, undeterred by market volatility.

Adding to the bullish sentiment, Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley stated on Saturday that Bitcoin may one day rival the massive $30 trillion U.S. Treasuries market.
