WLFI Burns $1.43M in Tokens After $1M Market Buyback

World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the decentralized finance initiative tied to President Donald Trump, has destroyed 7.89 million WLFI tokens valued at roughly $1.43 million. The burn came shortly after the project executed buybacks worth $1.06 million across multiple blockchains.

Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain reported that WLFI accumulated 4.91 million WLFI ($1.01 million) alongside $1.06 million in revenue from liquidity operations. That capital was then used to repurchase 6.04 million tokens directly from the market.

Following the buyback, WLFI permanently removed 7.89 million tokens on BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum. Another 3.06 million tokens, worth about $638,000, remain locked on Solana awaiting future burns.

Qries

This comes at a time when WLFI’s price has struggled, dropping 33% over the last month. As of Saturday, the token trades at $0.2049, a 6% rebound in the past 24 hours, though still more than 38% below its all-time high, according to CoinGecko.

Governance Greenlight for Burns

The burn program was introduced after a community governance vote earlier this month. Nearly unanimous support—99% of voters—backed the proposal to redirect fees from WLFI-managed liquidity pools into token buybacks that are subsequently burned.

The WLFI team emphasized that only liquidity pools operated directly by the project are included in the program, while community and third-party pools are excluded. The intent, they said, is to steadily reduce circulating supply and mitigate downward price pressure.

Some analysts believe this framework could lead to daily burns of up to 4 million WLFI, equating to nearly 2% of total supply annually, though precise figures have not been confirmed.

Trump Family Holds Multi-Billion Stake

A Trump-linked entity currently holds about $5 billion in WLFI tokens after the scheduled release of 24.6 billion units earlier this month.

According to project disclosures, DT Marks DEFI LLC and Trump family members—including Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Barron Trump—were allocated 22.5 billion WLFI. Following the unlock, the token briefly surged to $0.40 before falling back near $0.21.
