Trump Media & Technology Group is rolling out a new feature on its Truth Social platform that ties its digital rewards system directly to cryptocurrency.
The company announced Tuesday that subscribers to its Patriot Package—the paid tier of its Truth+ streaming service—will now receive enhanced perks, including access to “Truth gems.” These gems can be collected through user activity across Trump Media’s ecosystem and later converted into Cronos (CRO), the native cryptocurrency of Crypto.com, using the exchange’s wallet tools.
A shift in Trump Media’s rewards strategy
This move to integrate with CRO marks a change in direction from earlier plans. Back in April, Trump Media suggested it was weighing the launch of its own in-house utility token and wallet to support Truth+. In a shareholder letter dated April 29, CEO Devin Nunes noted that such a token could be used to cover subscription fees, purchase other company products, and serve as a foundation for a broader rewards initiative.
That same spring, online chatter spread about the possibility of a Truth Social “memecoin.” The company quickly shut down those claims, with Donald Trump Jr. publicly stating that the rumors were false.
Ongoing ties with Crypto.com
The new gem-to-CRO program builds on an already close relationship between Trump Media and Crypto.com. Earlier this year, the two announced plans to introduce exchange-traded funds (ETFs) under the Truth.Fi brand. These ETFs, focused on U.S.-centric digital assets and securities, will be distributed through Crypto.com’s broker-dealer Foris Capital, pending regulatory approval in late 2025.
In addition, Trump Media reached a major deal with Crypto.com to acquire 684.4 million CRO tokens—valued at about $105 million—as part of a larger $6.4 billion digital-asset treasury initiative. The tokens, obtained through a mix of equity and cash, will be held under Crypto.com’s institutional custody service, giving Trump Media the option to stake them for potential additional earnings.
