Michael Saylor’s firm, Strategy, which remains the largest publicly traded holder of Bitcoin, continued its aggressive accumulation last week as Bitcoin briefly surged beyond $122,000 for the first time on July 14.
According to a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, Strategy added 6,220 BTC during the week ending Sunday, investing a total of $739.8 million. The average purchase price for the newly acquired coins was $118,940 each.
Bitcoin began the week at historic highs above $122,000, dipped to a low of around $116,000 midweek, and ultimately settled near $118,000, as reported by CoinGecko.
This latest acquisition brings Strategy’s total Bitcoin stash to 607,770 BTC, amassed at a total cost of roughly $43.6 billion, averaging $71,756 per coin.
YTD Bitcoin Yield Inches Toward 25% Target
Thanks to the continued accumulation, Strategy’s Bitcoin yield for 2025 has climbed from 20.2% to 20.8%, moving the company just 4.2% shy of its ambitious 25% year-end goal. The yield metric, first introduced in August 2024, tracks the percentage change in Bitcoin holdings relative to Strategy’s diluted share count. The metric peaked at 74.3% last year.
Executive Continues MSTR Share Sales
Meanwhile, Strategy also disclosed a planned sale of securities on July 14. Senior executive vice president Wei-Ming Shao offloaded another 10,900 shares of Strategy (MSTR), valued at approximately $4.9 million. This followed a larger sale worth $25.7 million executed by the same executive the previous week.
Strategy’s Monthly BTC Purchases by Volume
Last week’s $739.8 million buy comes on the heels of a $472.5 million Bitcoin acquisition the week before. In total, Strategy has purchased 10,455 BTC so far in July. For comparison, the company bought 17,075 BTC in June, 26,695 BTC in May, and 25,370 BTC in April.
