Pump.fun Token Sale Confirmed – EU Users Excluded

Bybit has officially announced the public sale of the PUMP token, but users registered through its EU-regulated platform (Bybit.eu) won’t be able to participate, due to compliance with the EU’s MiCA regulation.

The sale begins Saturday at 14:00 UTC and will run until Tuesday. A total of 150 billion PUMP tokens — 15% of the 1 trillion total supply — will be available at a fixed price of $0.004 per token.

Bybit, currently the second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume, is the main platform hosting the sale. Other exchanges are expected to support it as well. Buyers will be able to use USDT, USDC, SOL, and bbSOL for purchases, offering both stablecoin and Solana-native options.

Qries

Pump.fun gained major traction since launching in January 2024, becoming popular for letting users launch and trade memecoins without any coding. Its viral mechanics and gamified approach sparked a wave of onchain activity, especially on Solana.

Interest around the platform intensified recently, with rumors of a $1 billion token sale at a $4 billion valuation. Bybit is now the second major exchange to confirm involvement after a brief accidental leak by Gate.io earlier this week.

The crypto community is split. Some are excited about the token’s potential, while others criticize Pump.fun for encouraging reckless trading. Influencer Ash Crypto claimed the platform has turned altcoin investors into “memecoin gamblers,” pointing to $700 million in extracted value, with most users reportedly losing money.

Still, data from DefiLlama shows Pump.fun has generated over $715 million in revenue, with $35 million earned in the past month alone.

Despite the hype, usage on Pump.fun has declined sharply — trading volume is down roughly 75–80% from January highs, as newer competitors enter the space.
