Telegram Releases Official Response Regarding Pavel Durov’s Detention

The messaging platform Telegram has released what seems to be its first official statement regarding the detention of its CEO, Pavel Durov.

Durov’s situation is still uncertain, as French authorities have reportedly declined to cooperate with the Russian embassy up to this point. As previously mentioned, the authorities in Paris are expected to issue an official statement on Monday, August 26.

Telegram published its official statement on August 25 around 7:00 pm UTC through its Telegram News channel. The company expressed strong support for Durov and called for a swift resolution to the ongoing issue.

As of now, it is still unclear what charges, if any, have been brought against Durov or if he has actually been detained. Some reports suggest that the arrest might be linked to concerns over moderation on the Telegram platform, but details remain scarce without an official statement from the French government or further clarification from Telegram.
