Searches for ‘AI jobs’ in 2023 soar 4 times higher than ‘crypto jobs’ during Bitcoin’s $69K surge

According to a recent analysis by CoinGecko, searches for “AI jobs” have surpassed “crypto jobs” by a significant margin, indicating a clear preference among job seekers. The study examined search trends from 2020 to 2022 and found that AI job searches consistently held the lead, with crypto jobs briefly taking the top spot during Bitcoin’s peak at $69,000 in November 2021.

However, the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 triggered a substantial increase in searches for “AI jobs.” The CoinGecko study revealed that in 2023, searches for “AI jobs” reached nearly five times the number of searches for “crypto jobs” at their peak and have remained four times higher as of July 5.

Prior to Bitcoin’s all-time high, searches for “AI jobs” consistently outpaced crypto-related queries by a ratio of 3-to-1. Only when BTC hit $69,000 did searches for “crypto jobs” briefly surpass “AI jobs” on two occasions, with search interest reaching a peak score of 26 on January 9 and 30, 2022, five times higher than the baseline in January 2020.

CoinGecko utilized a rank scoring system based on Google search data from around the world to determine search interest. It should be noted that while Google is the primary search engine in many regions, it may not represent the complete picture of interest in every geographical area.

Among other notable findings, Singapore emerged as the country with the highest search interest for both “AI jobs” and “crypto jobs” keywords, indicating a strong interest in these fields.
