Anthony Scaramucci Criticizes Sam Bankman-Fried, Saying He Has Caused Damage to the Industry

During a panel discussion at the Collision 2023 conference in Toronto, Anthony Scaramucci, founder of Skybridge Capital and former White House communications director, shared his views on the crypto industry and criticized Sam Bankman-Fried, a prominent crypto executive. Scaramucci stated that Bankman-Fried had “really hurt the industry in the United States from a regulatory perspective,” citing his involvement in a major situation that embarrassed politicians and led to over-regulation.

Scaramucci further explained that Canada had taken a different approach to crypto regulation, learning from the mistakes made in the United States. He praised Canada for engaging with industry players to develop fair regulations and protect against bad actors. According to Scaramucci, the Canadian crypto industry is thriving as a result of this collaborative approach.

When discussing the future of cryptocurrency exchanges, Scaramucci mentioned Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of Binance and a Canadian national. He acknowledged CZ’s success in growing Binance’s market share but highlighted the need for improved transparency. Scaramucci emphasized that while the SEC has filed a lawsuit against Binance, no criminal charges have been brought forth.

In closing, Scaramucci recognized CZ as the “most influential person” in the crypto space and predicted that he would continue to lead and drive mass adoption. He acknowledged that CZ and Binance still face challenges and criticism but emphasized their ability to operate globally and comply with regulations in major jurisdictions worldwide.
